Malaysian Red Cross memories – 1969

When the May Thirteenth 1969 incident broke out a state of emergency was declared. I called Datuk (now Tun) Arshad Ayub then Director of MARA Institute of Technology to report I was okay and that I woud like to serve in the Red Cross, and he gave permission. So I spent one month mostly at its HQ in Jalan Belfield KL and then became life member as shown below. My car souped up Mini 1000 No. BU2021 flew a Red Cross Flag and I had a curfew pass. Sadly, those are gone now. I received commendation from the Malaysian government for my service mentioned in Government Gazette 1/71 after emergency was ended. That certificate is also gone but can presumably be retrieved in the National Archives. Full story in my memoirs, still in the writing stage.
